ICC Women's world cup, 2017 - Australia gets better of India, wins the match by 8 wickets

Mag Lanning and Ellyse Perry gave an unbeaten stand of 124 runs to help Australia beat India in a league stage by 8 wickets.
Australia won the toss and asked India to bat first. India once again had a bad start with Mandhana getting out for just 3 runs. After the brilliant start in the tournament, Mandhana has not cashed into her form and today it was the fourth consecutive time that she got out without getting into the double figures.  Mithali Raj came into bat after the fall of first wicket and continued with her sublime form in the tournament. She along with Raut started to move the scoreboard along.
Raut was looking in great form and was hitting the ball very nicely. Mithali's inning was little on a slower side, however she completed her fifty in the 33rd over of the innings before getting out for 69 from 114 deliveries.
Mithali Raj became the first Women cricketer to complete 6000 runs in international cricket
Mithali Raj en-route her innings today became the first Women cricketer ever to complete 6000 runs.
  • Mithali surpassed Charlotte Edwards record of 5992 runs
  • Raut scored her first century of WWC17
  • India lost 5 wickets in last 4 overs of the innings
Raut on other side was busy playing her shot and completed her century in the 44th over. Harmanpreet who followed her captain played a cameo of 23 runs. India lost its five wickets in the dying overs and ended up their inning with 226 runs.
Australia, the defending champion, started the chase confidently. Their openers quickly moved on to 62 runs before loosing their first wicket. Deepti Sharma then produced a run out to get second Australian wicket on  103 runs. Now, Australia was having two of her best batters on the crease to complete the run chase and they did it in style. Mag Lanning and Ellyse Perry continued their impressive form in the tournament and started hitting Indian bowlers for regular boundaries. They took no time to complete their respective fifties.
Ellyse Perry performed with both bat and ball making 60 runs and also taking 2 wickets
This was the fourth consecutive score of over fifty runs for Ellyse Perry. Both toiled the Indian Bowling attack. Australia completed the target in just 46th over and with this they confirmed their berth in the Semifinals of WWC17.
India will play on New Zealand in their last match on 15th July and this match will potentially be the do or die match for them.
