Ravi Shastri appointed as head coach of Indian cricket team , Rahul Dravid and Zaheer Khan to assist

BCCI ended all the speculation related to appointment of the new coach and announced Ravi Shastri to be the head coach of the Indian cricket team. Zaheer Khan will assist him in the bowling department being appointed as a bowling coach. Rahul Dravid has been given the charge to look after the Indian batting in overseas test tours.

Ravi Shastri was always the front runner for the post. He outran likes of Virender Sehwag, Tom Moody, Richard Pybus to be selected as the new coach.

Interviews of the shortlisted candidates were taken yesterday by the former Indian team greats Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman and Sachin Tendulkar who are the members of the advisory committee set by the BCCI. Sourav Ganguly while addressing a press conference held after the interview stated that Committee will hold on to the announcement as yet, further telling that the final selection will be done after discussing the matter with Virat Kohli who was in America.
Then earlier today CoA (committee of administrators)  asked the advisory committee to appoint the head coach without any delay. Later in the evening news came from a source that Ravi Shastri has been appointed as the head coach but BCCI didn't officially confirmed the news.

 BCCI then twitted around an hour ago confirming the job to be given to Shastri.

Ravi Shastri has already served as the director of the Indian cricket team before this and had a successful time with the team. His pros are that he is the experienced campaigner and has shown the ability to handle the team well. He shares a good repot with captain and few other players which assures that there will be synchronization between the coach and the captain.

Rahul Dravid was announced to be the batting consultant for Test series to be played out of India. His appointment becomes special for a reason that he himself was one of the most successful batsman for India in overseas conditions and will bring great experience and learning to the Indian camp to cope with the testing conditions outside the subcontinent. BCCI have played a masterstroke to take the services of Rahul Dravid to bring improvements in Indian batting.
Other one to follow after the Rahul Dravid's announcement was the appointment of Zaheer Khan, former Indian bowler, as the Bowling consultant till the World Cup, 2019

 It will be a new experience for Zaheer Khan to take on as the coach. He backs a vast experience of bowling in subcontinents and overseas, BCCI would like him to use his experience in garnishing the Indian Bowling attack.

Zimbabwe triumphed over weaker Sri-Lankan side, wins the fifth ODI to win the series

Zimbabwe created history winning an ODI series against Sri-Lanka in their courtyard. They won the fifth and last match to take the series 3-2. It can be eyed as the lowest point for the Sri-Lankan team who had never lost to the bottom ranked teams at home. Zimbabwe won an away series after eight years Zimbabwe won the fifth match against Sri-Lanka by 3 wickets while chasing the target of 204 runs.
