WI stuns India in the lone T20I, Evin Lewis slaughters Indian bowlers

Evin Lewis played remarkable innings of 125 runs from just 62 deliveries to help WI win the only T20I against India and win the one-off T20 series 1-0. This was his second century against India in T20s having achieved the same feat almost an year back in Florida. Chris Gayle who was included in the team couldn't do much with bat but Evin Lewis produced Gayle like innings in the centre. It rained sixes from his bat and none of the Indian bowlers had any answer to his brutal hitting.
Evin Lewis made 125 runs and made his second century against India in T20I
Coin didn't favor Virat Kohli for the sixth time in as many matches in the tour. WI once again won the toss and elected to bowl first. Virat had called for heads in all 5 ODIs and lost the toss, he called for tails in the T20 and still lost it.
Virat,  as was expected from him, opened the batting along with Dhawan. Both of them started to fire from the start. Virat started the India innings with a four on first ball of first over. He glanced a ball to fine leg for his first boundary. Dhawan shared the feat and got off the mark with a boundary in the third ball of the fist over. Dhawan again hit a boundary in the first over and gave sensational start with India making 13 runs in first over from Samuel Badree. Both carried on the with start they got in first over and moved onto 54 runs from first five.
Virat got out for quick made 39 in the next over giving a simple catch to Narine on long on in an attempt to hit a ball for six and Dhawan also got run out in the same over for 23 runs with a miscommunication with Rishabh Pant who in attempt to get off the mark quickly called Dhawan for a single and then sent him back. Dhawan couldn't make it back and got run out.
Rishabh Pant was then joined by Dinesh Karthik. Scoring rate dipped with both openers getting out and Pant and Karthik started their innings with singles and occasional boundary. Latter then cut loose and hit a six and a four in the 11th over. He then started playing his shots and soon he moved onto 48 runs from just 28 balls before getting bowled in an attempt to sweep one over short fine leg completely missing the length of the ball.
Dhoni coming to the crease after Karthik couldn't do much and got out for just 2 runs. Infact India lost wickets in hurry after Karthik. After Dhoni,  Pant and Jadhav soon  followed him to Pavillion and Indian team could manage only 19 runs in 3 overs from 16th to 19th over of the innings. Jadeja and Ashwin however played some shots in the last over and took team total to 190/6 from 20 overs.

  • Kohli (39) and Dhawan (23) gave quick start of 64 runs
  • Karthik and Pant played handy innings in the middle
  • India made 190/6 from their 20 overs

WI started the things with Gayle and Evin Lewis. They started the innings cautiously taking singles and doubles. Gayle then hit a six over long on off Ashwin in the last ball of 2nd over. WI then started playing their shots in 4th over bowled by Shami. Gayle hit one four and Lewis smacked 3 in last three balls. And then there was no looking back for Evin Lewis. He brutally tortured Indian bowlers and started hitting sixes at will. Gayle on other hand was just happy taking singles. It is very rare sight when Gayle plays a supporting role. Indians however got the wicket of Gayle in 9th over but this had no impact whatsoever on Lewis on the other end. He continued playing his Shots . Marlon Samuels joining Lewis played few overs for just singles and Lewis kept on with his slaughter. Samuels also started playing with the emotions of Indians and hit 15 runs from an over from Shami. Lewis and Samuels continued playing biggies and their was no stopping to both of them. Unbeaten stand of 112 runs between Lewis and Samuels helped WI chase down the target with 9 balls to be bowled. Evin Lewis's innings today was as good as any played by his counterpart Chris Gayle. Lewis hit 12 long sixes in his innings and just 6 fours. Indian team had their chances though dropping Lewis twice early in his innings.

  • Lewis 125* and Samuels 36* shared the partnership of 112 runs.
  • Lewis was dropped twice by Indians
Surprisingly the fastest wicketkeeper on earth, MS Dhoni also had a bad day behind the stumps and missed stumping chance twice against Gayle and Samuels. And this is T20 and it doesn't give you many chances.
Brief Scores:
India 190/6 20 overs, Karthik 48(29), Jerome 2/31
WI 194/1 18.3 overs, Lewis 125*(62), Kuldeep 1/34

ICC Women's world cup, 2017 - Australia gets better of India, wins the match by 8 wickets

Mag Lanning and Ellyse Perry gave an unbeaten stand of 124 runs to help Australia beat India in a league stage by 8 wickets.  Australia won the toss and asked India to bat first. India once again had a bad start with Mandhana getting out for just 3 runs. She along with Raut started to move the scoreboard along.  Raut was looking in great form and was hitting the ball very nicely. Mithali's inning was little on a slower side, however she completed her fifty in the 33rd over of the innings before getting out for 69 from 114 deliveries.  Mithali Raj became the first Women cricketer to complete 6000 runs in international cricket  Mithali Raj en-route her innings today became t
